Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

What is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and how can I celebrate this day with my family?

First, let's learn more about the Feast! This video re-enacts the following Scripture reading:

Luke 2:22-35

Simeon said that the child Jesus would be the light of the world and the salvation of mankind. On this feast day, we remember Jesus' presentation in the temple. On this day, also known as Candlemas, we bless candles used in prayer. Interestingly, candles/fire is also associated with purification, an idea found in Scripture. The light of Christ is among us, penetrating the darkness.

Let's learn about how this feast was marked by the Catholic Church over the years. Watch:

Learn some sweet Catholic traditions to incorporate into your own domestic church: your home where your children LIVE OUT their faith through your example. This video focuses on Candlemas, or The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, which traditionally falls on February 2nd. The family in the video uses candlelight during the day, makes a family breakfast of Crepes, and blesses their household candles. You can also attend morning Mass on this day.

*Please note: any activities that utilize candle light must be adult supervised at home.
