Session 7: Reconciliation

God loves us unconditionally. This means that God never gives up on loving us, even when we reject Him. St. Paul writes about the love of God. Watch the video, (based on 1Corinthians 13:1-13), below.

With an adult, discuss: This Scripture passage tells us that God forgives our sins.

Do you think God forgives every sin? Why or why not?

Next let’s look at: Matthew 18:21-35

Jesus explains the kind of mercy and forgiveness God wants people to show toward each other.  Watch

a modern version of this parable below:

While watching, think about it: In the parable, why did the debtor's treatment of others who owed him

money anger the King? Why is the businessman angered in the modern video?

Say: God forgives our sin a bottomless number of times, and he challenges us to do the same.

What can we do when we feel unable to forgive someone?

(Example responses: pray, go to Reconciliation, confess your anger and ask God for the help to forgive.)

The next video explains how and when to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In our parish,

Reconciliation is available every Saturday afternoon from 4 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. in the Large Church.

Before you leave this lesson, don't forget to reflect on what you've learned in this worksheet.

  1. I learned that love is really important and also forgive as you are forgiven and reconciliation is important because you get to tell the preist what you have done and he will forgive you.
