Session 6: Human Dignity in Scripture

All human life is worthy of dignity and respect. We are made in the image of God. Human life is sacred because we

are made in the image of God, who is sacred.

In the video below Mrs. Christie introduces the lesson with words from the prophet Jeremiah and some

background information on the Gospel stories in this lesson.

Jesus often spent time with people who most considered to be the outcasts of society. This action

reflected Jesus’ deep respect for human life. Look up the following Scripture passages and think about

these questions for each of them.

Matthew 8:1-4

Mark 2:13-17

Luke 7:36-50

John 4:4-42

Questions:

  1. Which characters in the story did Jesus treat with dignity (respect)?

  2. In the story, how did Jesus show that He respected the character?

The Cleansing of a Leper

The Call of Levi (the Tax Collector)

Jesus Forgives the Sinful Woman

                                                          The Samaritan Woman
