Session 4: The Mass

In this lesson we begin to talk to the children about Mass. Of course, the best way to teach them about the Mass is to take them to church on Sunday. Here is a great video about the Mass:

Each time we go to Mass we are with Jesus. Jesus loves us very much, just as His Father, God, loves us.

We receive Him in our hearts and minds when we eat the Eucharist. Right now you are preparing for the first

time you will receive the Eucharist at Mass, but after that you can receive it every day for the rest of your life!

That way, you will keep Jesus close to you in your heart and your mind.

Read: “The Last Supper” Luke 22:14-20

Point out to your child that every time we attend Mass, we are reliving The Last Supper with Jesus really

with us in the Eucharist. Tell them that in Level 2 they will receive the Eucharist for the first time during a

special Mass.

Lastly, Parents, attached to this lesson in Google Classroom is a Catholic Mass Coloring Sheet. The page shows an empty church pew. Have your child draw a picture of your family sitting in the pew at church. Take a photo of your child's family at church coloring page and attach it to the Level 1 Google Classroom.  If you don’t have access to Google Classroom email the Director to request the coloring page.
