Session 9: Care of Creation During Lent

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting and alms-giving. Beginning with Ash Wednesday, Lent is a time to reflect on our spiritual habits and reorient ourselves toward God. We might fast in other ways besides just eating less. We make sacrifices during Lent,

remembering that Jesus went into the desert to pray and fast for 40 days after his baptism by

John the Baptist, his cousin.

Let’s look at that Gospel passage-

Read: Matthew 4: 1-11

Think About It:

What did the devil offer Jesus?

How are people tempted in a similar way today?

How did Jesus’ time in the desert prepare him for his mission on Earth?

Where and how can create prayer time for myself during Lent?

Alms-giving means giving to those in need. We are encouraged to do this, especially during

Lent and Advent. Let’s learn about how Catholic Relief Services does this around the world.
