Jesus said is the greatest commandment is to love God above all things and love your neighbor as

yourself. What did Jesus mean? Did he mean the people who live next door to us, our family, friends,

or strangers?  Next let's read a story in the Bible that is about loving one's neighbor. This is how Jesus

the question: "Who is my neighbor?"

Parents read: Luke 10:29-37 (The parable of the Good Samaritan)

There is an OPTIONAL Good Samaritan coloring page attached to this lesson in the Level 2 Google

Classroom.

Note to Parents: The word “parable” means “to compare beside.” Jesus uses stories to help us relate

to God’s teachings. A neighbor is anyone in need of kindness and mercy. Stress that students must

consider personal safety when helping others, (strangers). Remind them that they should never put

themselves at risk by helping others, including when an adult they do not know asks for help.

Ask: How can you be kind to kids your own age?

Ask: What good and bad choices were made in the story? What better choice could the priest or temple

worker have made?

Parents and Students: To complete the lesson, fill out this Exit Ticket together.
