God is Requesting a Meeting With You

Jesus is present in our modern world through the gift of the Eucharist, and he's requesting a meeting with you in prayer during Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Are you going? He's waiting.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?
As Catholics we believe that Jesus is present in the form of the Eucharist. Eucharistic Adoration is the practice of praying in front of Jesus in that form. The host is exposed on the altar in a special vessel called a monstrance, or it can be kept in the tabernacle.
Why should I go to Adoration, and why bring my children?
The better question is, when you realize the great gift of being in the real presence of Jesus through Eucharistic Adoration, and the opportunity to develop a relationship through silence in His presence, why would you not take part in that gift, and bring your family?

What do I do as I sit before Jesus at Eucharistic Adoration?
Okay, I completely understand the significance of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, but what do I do when I get to Adoration?

The following information about Eucharistic Adoration is excerpted from an article by Jerry Windley-Daoust for TeachingCatholickids.com
"People pray in all sorts of ways during Eucharistic adoration. Meditative PrayerContemplative Prayer, and silent conversation with Jesus are common practices, as is saying the rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet, (see Pray the Rosary or the Divine Mercy Chaplet). Some people sing hymns of praise (if they are alone), while others write in a prayer journal or bring sacred reading. But Eucharistic adoration can also be as simple as sunbathing . . . just sitting and soaking up God’s love in the presence of Jesus.
Note to parents: Pope Benedict XVI encouraged parents to teach children to appreciate spending time in the presence of the Eucharist as part of their preparation for First Communion (Sacramentum Caritatis #67)."

Here are some tips for introducing children to this practice: Begin by explaining that it is an opportunity to be in the real presence of Jesus in the form of the Eucharist. Model how one is to behave during Eucharistic Adoration for your children, starting out in very brief intervals- 5 minutes at a time, then 10 minutes and so on. For teens, 30 minutes in Adoration should be the goal. Expect some time to adjust. We live in a noisy, distracting world; kids are not used to silence.
How do I use the videos on this page?

The first video below briefly explains Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

This next video shows Catholics explaining why Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is important to them.

Finally, use the video of Adoration to practice "going virtually.” The video below is prerecorded, however you can search "Live Eucharistic Adoration" on YouTube as well. Families can say the rosary together with Adoration streaming in the background. The video below, from EWTN in Poland, shows the Eucharist displayed inside the heart of a statue of the Blessed Mother. It's stunning.
