Level 6 Easter Activity- Alleluia Banner

"Alleluia" is removed from the Church’s liturgies during the Lenten season, and reappears at Easter.
  • Alleluia is a word of Hebrew origin which means “praise Yahweh.”
  • In addition to its liberal use during the Easter season, the children will recognize the “alleluia verse” from the Liturgy of the Word at Mass.

Make an Alleluia Banner to hang in your home on Easter.

This activity, taken from the Level 6 Alive in Christ textbook, listed under Seasonal Lessons:Witnesses, considers Multiple Learning Intelligences: Visual/Spatial, Interpersonal, Bodily/Kinesthetic.

In the Easter lesson, The closing prayer ritual includes an Alleluia banner.
  • Have the children make the Alleluia banner.
  • Give them plenty of materials with which to work, such as felt, glitter, cloth, and glue.
You may want to include a dowel at the top of the banner so that you can hang the banner near your family dining table throughout the Easter season. Tell us about your banner in a comment below, or send pictures of your banner to ReligiousEducation@olsbp.com and we will post them on this blog.

Watch the Alleluia!
