Hello Level 7 students! This week we are studying Lesson 17 in your Finding God L7 textbook: Jesus Makes a Choice. Looking at pages 144-145, we read about Jesus' Agony in the Garden, where he asked his disciples to stay awake with him. As Catholics we believe that Jesus is both 100% divine and 100% human, so it is safe to guess that the human side of Jesus was pretty afraid that night. In fact, Luke's Gospel tells us that his prayers were so intense that his "sweat became like drops of blood falling to the ground." He found his friends sleeping. (Luke 22:44-45)
Applying the Gospel to Modern Life
How might Jesus' request for his friends to "stay awake" be applied to the modern issue of bullying? Share your comments with us below. Please include your full name so that we can respond.
Staying Awake
On page 145 an important question is posed: "Where in the world today do you find human suffering, and how can you respond to lessen it?" Comment below.
Who Am I? Activity
God knows your heart; He loves the real you. Draw an outline of yourself. Fill it in with words or phrases that describe your true identity. Talk about your drawing with an adult you admire.
Here's a great song to listen to while you are working on this activity:
